“The men single women want are in short supply.”
Danielle Kurtzleben over at Vox breaks down a few stats for us. More Americans than ever are staying single. According to a new Pew Research Center survey, a record one in five Americans over 25 are in the “never-married” category. There are a whole bunch of reasons for this. One is that people just don’t want to get married as much as they used to — as of 2010, 61 percent of never-married Americans said they wanted to get married. Today, it’s only 53 percent.
Patricia Shares: My husband Jay and I met in Air Force tech school. We started off as friends and the military separated us after tech school but as fate would have it, a few months later he was moved into the dorm next to mine at our first duty station. Seven years and two children (Ares and Maya) later we’re still going strong.
I was thrilled to get this photo submission from Nigel Anderson. It is nice to hear from white men declaring their hearts for a black woman they found and with whom they have fallen deeply in love. The Andersons have a real “His, Mine and Ours” situation going on. Congrats on your new marriage and best wishes to this beautiful family!
Joshelyn shares: It was love at first sight! Craig and I met online and got engaged within 3 months. And 9 months later married! (When you know, you know)! Our wedding just past September 13th.
Marriage is a huge commitment and can be very scary.
It can feel like you are about to make a risky jump into the abyss. Hence, for some, Cohabitation seems to be the easier and yet safer choice; is it?
Various researches have found that marriage has a huge health benefits to it versus cohabitation . It has been reasoned that perhaps the partners feel somewhat secure which eases a lot more mental strain.
With the media and black women weighing on the Janay Rice’s relationship with her husband Ray Rice, it made me ask ‘Are there any couples that do not argue?
It is highly unlikely. What I have found is that the happiest couples are those who know how to argue in a mature manner where no one is demoralizing or violent with each other. I am always amazed at my friends and their relationships.
Bryan shares his online love success story: I am Vietnamese and my wife Cassie is African-American. We met online a few years ago. We were both on Match. It looked like we shared at least a couple of common interests, and I will admit she looked really pretty in her pictures. We discovered we had some genuinely good chemistry together. Honestly, it was just so easy for us to talk and for us to make each other laugh. I proposed to her in her favorite restaurant the weekend before Christmas a couple of years ago. We’ve been happily married since last fall (2013)!

Just how does a black American matriarch set roots In New Zealand? American slavery left an unwitting legacy on most of us descended from Africans. The sad thing is that most of us don’t know our history and for those of us who can trace back our ancestry, we are stopped for the most part at the slave owner. For instance, I traced my family back seven generations. It wasn’t a surprise where my family got its name Murrell as it was the name of the man who purchased my progenitors. He came from Ireland back in 1799.

In light of a recent post, I wanted to share a refreshing story of Monica L. This beautiful, scholarly sister would not let negative messages from anyone or church affect her love, happiness and future. However Monica fully credits God for allowing her and her husband’s paths to cross. I too feel meting my husband was a result of Divine Intervention. Similarly, there were no negative messages from “the black church” that affected me or any decisions I made regarding who I could, should or would marry. Right before meeting my husband, I liked a white so called Christian who was a DBR. He really was damaged beyond repair.

I fell in love these pics and went directly to the outstanding photographer ‘s website and of course I wanted an interview. They are Canadian — Farhia is Somali and Jason is Japanese. This is one of the most beautiful Blasian couples I have ever seen.
