Thanks to Raynika for sharing her romance story with Interracial Marriage and Family. Brandon is truly my soul mate. His love, ability to accept me for me and his willingness to help me to grow as a person is the greatest feeling in the world. He asked me to be his last girlfriend ever and I happily said yes!
The beautiful Dorothy Dandridge, was legendary. She was a multitalented woman way ahead of her time. Dorothy’s mother Ruby and her lover Geneva Williams were abusive and taught Dorothy nothing about vetting good, quality men. Tragically almost every man in Dorothy’s romantic life left her heartbroken and broken.
By Ashlyn Sully of the Ashlyn Sully Blog. I work as a waitress. Last night I had a table of about 6 extremely drunk guys come in. Although they were not my table, every time I would walk by them to fill someone’s drink (They were sitting in a table right next to our pop machine) they would cat call me. I started out by ignoring it, why fuel the fire, right? However, when one of them blurted out that I am a “fine piece of ass” my patience was wearing thin. I turned around, smiled, and stated “Yeah, my boyfriend thinks so too.”
In all honesty, looking back I should have just remained silent like I had been doing. But hindsight is always 20/20. The guys then all started laughing and saying that they were just trying to “compliment me” and that I didn’t have to be “such a bitch about things” *This is when I started getting angry and probably should have walked away, but sometimes I have a smart mouth.*
It was love at first sight when Ada 23, saw Yan Yang 58, an artist from China visiting her home town of Freetown, Sierra Leone. Ada was so sure that Yan, significantly older was the love of her life, that within one month they were married and moved to China. Did she have any idea that her wedding would rival that of a Chinese empress? Probably not. But that is what she got.
Brennan Shares: I’m a happily married man and a recent father. My wife’s name is Ivy, a half-Panamanian and half-Mexican young woman. Her Panamanian mother has been remarried to a Caucasian man for nearly 20 years. So her parents were not remotely concerned about their daughter dating a white man.
Both Fawn Stone and Lakesha Yvette Walker were featured as singles on Interracial Marriage and Family, formerly Swirling and Marriage. I have not been single for quite some time but as a dating and life coach understand that it is quite hard out there for women everywhere to find love. Throw in beautiful, successful and accomplished black women, the odds rise even higher. I had lunch with Fawn and Lakesha in the summer and am still blown over in amazement as to why these young, sexy, gorgeous women at their age and in their respective professions were still single. I encouraged them, strategized and discussed a game plan for each. That game plan included swirling for these smart, hot, gorgeous women. Half the battle is won as they are very much open to interracial relationships. Neither Fawn nor Lakesha have limited themselves to dating black men only, but are inclusive of love in whatever skin shade they find it. That is a very good thing!
Right from the start of period, competition and numerous civilizations have joined into significant and effective associations. Despite the fact that some have now been fulfilled with uncertainty and numerous resistance, there has been an infusion of interracial interactions with every competition and tradition. What’s most significant may be the love each connection stocks. Are interracial interactions a problem in the culture of today’s? Whenever you visit a handful of another competition together in the culture of today’s, what’s your thought?
Farhia and Jason were astounded that their beautiful wedding photographs went viral on the Internet. The pics of this chic and hip urban couple are on many many Blasian and interracial couples Tumblr site as well as bridal and wedding websites. I even covered them here on BBW. Amal and Nada, the fab female photographers who make up Black Earth Studios deserve an award for The Koyama Wedding Shoot. These photogragphs are absolutely beautiful. I did not want to just piece together facts and display photos, I wanted an interview. So now I am sharing a little of Farhia and Jason’s story with you. Farhia is very open minded and had no inhibitions dating or marrying interracially in the least bit.
Dale shares: This is my wife is Jamie. We met 3 years ago and will be married for 2 years in March. It was love at first sight for both of us. It actually took me a month to be brave enough to ask her out. Neither of us thought the other was interested, but obviously we were mistaken.
Nathan shares: This is my wife Courtney. We met at a bar in Indianapolis, Indiana in April of 2010. She couldn’t resist my wicked dance moves. Courtney is 28 years old and I am 31.
I’ve said it numerous times. And I didn’t think it was possible. It certainly isn’t possible with that attitude. But here’s an interesting modern statistic: 1 in 5 relationships start online.
According to research recently published in the journal “Psychological Science in the Public Interest,” 20% of all relationships begin on the internet. Apparently, the stigmas once attached to dating online have disappeared and been replaced with a real appreciation for the effectiveness of finding love digitally. No longer is internet dating an escape for the desperate, the lonely and the dirt-bags of the world. These days single people all over the world find each other in that vast digital environment of 1s and 0s.
Erick shares: This is my wife Justine. We were married on 8/23/2014. We met at 13 Stripes Crossfit in Linglestown PA on 12/21/12. She crushed me in a workout by 24 minutes and of course I was in love ever since!
We originally met over 4 years ago briefly. We reconnected a year and a half ago and since then my life has never been the same. I’m biracial mixed (Italian and Black Foot Native and African American. Jimmy is a pure southern gentlemen we are getting married in March 2015 and I cannot wait to become his wife!
I first met Paula when I came across her post on Weddingbee.com talking about she and Mr. B., her hubby moving to his country, Macedonia. I introduced myself and the next thing you know we were friends on Facebook. That was 2013. I have gotten to know Paula over the past year through our posts and pictures. As a black American woman married, living and working in Eastern Europe, Paula’s story is especially fascinating. She is holding it down for the sisters over there and doing a fantastic job of it I might add.
This is another online dating success story. Chris and Masa met in February 2013 on Match.com. Chris was looking for and found a guy who met all her criteria. She was looking for a quality, marriage minded Asian man who wanted a family. Masa on the other hand was not having so much luck and was about ready to close down his account when he got Chris’ email. From Chris’ profile, she was too good to be true and Masa was intrigued. He responded to Chris and they hit it off. Masa was smitten and after a few phone calls they met. Masa was everything Chris wanted and Chris was the answer to Masa’s prayers.
I came across a fab blog by a woman named Grace Buchele Mineta. She gives the good, bad and ugly of Asian Male white female relationships as she sees it. I found her post very refreshing. It looks like she has loads of fun with her Japanese husband. Read her story…
Where to begin… My engagement announcement yesterday has highlighted a very sensitive issue… the topic of interracial dating. Though please know that it was never an issue for me, my fiancé, our friends and family. It’s unfortunate that a few ignorant people have taken an event that every girl dreams of and turned it into a negative with their vile and ignorant comments. I won’t give this urban gossip website the benefit of being mentioned (I used to be a huge fan, by the way) but among some of the comments came the term “Sellout Negro” and other disgusting and derogatory references.
