No. Because Asian men and black women have always gotten together and this is nothing novel. Though not as numerous as bw-wm couples, depending upon where they were geographically Asian men did marry numerous black women. While researching, I found Providence’s Black Chinese: A Love Story, a report by Luke Tsai. There were probably more couples as documents suggest a Chinese presence in Rhode Island as early as 1801.
Lynne & David Haahr
After speaking with Lynne Haahr, I could only shake my head in amazement with her cheer leading-like promotion of interracial relationships. She and her husband David are a true couple of the world. Could Lynne have known growing up as a military brat (as she calls it) that she would be living in some of the world’s most exotic places? Could she have known that her job, choice of mate (and his job) would expose her to life only dreamt of by others? Maybe, because it is second nature and with her award winning attitude, it falls right into place. Lynne’s is a wonderful “Living Well” story.
I happened upon this blog last year. It was originally posted back in 2009 on the Cultural Matters blog by Lisa L. Wynn. Lisa is an American expat living in Australia. I found the post interesting enough to review the comments and chime in a couple of times. I encourage black women to seek out opportunities for love in Australia and New Zealand. I know people living in both places. Follow the comments as people are still posting.

Black Women White Chasing Men (The use of the word chasing was a bit unnerving but good interview otherwise)
Interracial Marriage and Family™ (formerly Swirling and Marriage) and a few clients were interviewed by Alf Ask, the New York City Bureau Chief of one of Norway’s leading newspapera Aftenposten. The article ran on February 18, 2011. The very kind photographer was Ole Orset.
I have always been a go-getter. When I was a teenager in high school, the opportunity came to be a summer student in Mexico. I along with a few members of the Spanish club at my high school raised the money by washing cars and holding bake sales. Our parents also pitched in to help and off we went.
Situation: I have never had any problems attracting men. I met a wonderful man, he is romantic, intelligent and everything I would possible want and need in a man. I think he is the one for me and I picture us getting married one day. This wonderful man came to this country 2 years ago and told me that he had two ex wives and 3 children.
ISO BLACK WOMEN LOOKING FOR INTERRACIAL LOVE
by Jenee Darden for NPR All Things Considered.
For many black women in America, finding love has become a serious issue. Census data show that roughly 40 percent of black adult women in the U.S. have never been married. That’s nearly twice the percentage of white women. One entrepreneur in Los Angeles is fighting the odds. Her mission: move black women from no man’s land to a diverse dating world
If you are a black woman with an advanced degree, there’s a good chance you’ve never been married. New research from Yale University suggests that highly educated black women are twice as likely to have never been married by the age of 45 as white women with similar education.

Most Aboriginal men and women intermarry with non-indigenous Australians, new research has shown.
Analysis of the 2006 census reveals that 52% of Aboriginal men and 55% of Aboriginal women were married to non-Aboriginal Australians.
In Australia’s larger east coast cities, the intermarriage rate was well above 70%; in Sydney, as many as nine out of 10 university-educated Aborigines had a non-indigenous partner.
Ami and Yuan Q, from South Carolina a beautiful couple. When working in her business at Ami Creations, Ami can be found retouching, restoring or even digitally reimaging photos. She is really in her element as a professional makeup artist/ hair stylist preparing makeup and hair for brides and bridesmaids, or even designing graphics for the wedding. When Ami and hubby can relax at home, life these days is pretty low key. Transplanted from New York and China respectively, they enjoy a quiet life in Oklahoma with their miniature dachshund. Now in South Carolina, they’ve been living there comfortably for quite some time now; and being an interracial couple is not a key topic in their daily lives. Ami and Yuan are prime examples of how online dating can work and result in a successful marriage. Ami and I had a discussion about her life and marriage. Ami’s website is www.amicreations.com
