This photo of little Katie Henry has gone viral, but hardly anyone knows the story behind it.  A little investigation will reveal a bubbly personality that knows no limits.  Katie Henry, a double amputee is also a gymnast. with an amazing human spirit.  Everyone in Thayer, Missouri knows who Katie is.  Read Katie’s story.  THAYER, Mo. – Deep in the Ozarks, sits this small border town.  With a population of about 2,300 people, it’s a popular spot for those who want to learn a thing or two about cheerleading.  That includes Katie Henry.  From flips to the splits, she can do it all.

“Nothing stops her.  She rides a regular bike, she jumps on the trampoline, she swims, she climbs trees.  She just has never given up,” said Donna Henry.  Henry adopted Katie when she was just a couple of months old.  She did it despite knowing that the baby’s birth mom used cocaine and heroin.  The drug use cost Katie both her legs.  Donna has encouraged and cheered Katie and all her siblings to excellence.

“She’s just, an amazing little girl,” said Henry.  Katie’s mom didn’t stop with one child.  She’s adopted 14 girls and all but one are cheerleaders.  “It’s really fun, doing cheers and getting into it,” said Katie.  Katie is a part of Gina’s Gymnastics Shinettes, a team for children with special needs.  (continue reading)
