Just Who is Afro-Iranian?

Malika and Khadijah Haqq

All the media buzz about Kim Kardashian’s pregnancy led me to thinking about the Kardashian sisters and their circles.  Then I remembered the beautiful black twin actresses Malika and Khadijah Haqq.  If their last name Haqq didn’t get you thinking about it’s origins, then maybe you thought they were just rich, pretty black girls who grew up with the Kardashians.

78 Percent of Never-Married Women Are Looking For a Spouse With a Job

“The men single women want are in short supply.”

Danielle Kurtzleben over at Vox breaks down a few stats for us. More Americans than ever are staying single. According to a new Pew Research Center survey, a record one in five Americans over 25 are in the “never-married” category. There are a whole bunch of reasons for this. One is that people just don’t want to get married as much as they used to — as of 2010, 61 percent of never-married Americans said they wanted to get married. Today, it’s only 53 percent.

Police Officer Comforts Lost Autistic Boy

Worst nightmare for some parents of autistic children. Sometimes parents have to get extra locks and alarms for when a door or window is opened. So glad this turned out ok for little man (and his family!) On another note, this man is true marriage material for any fortunate woman. He is protecting this child who doesn’t have a care in the world, as it should be.   A little boy was found wandering at 4th and Troost around midnight today with just a diaper on. Police later learned he was autistic, and they reunited him with his family.

Tom Clancy, Swirling Spy Thriller Novelist Dies

Alex and Tom Clancy

The world of high tech military espionage thriller fans lost one of the greats Tuesday when Tom Clancy died. He wrote over 100 books and consulted on video games. The works I was most familiar with are The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears as they were all blockbuster movies. Another “Jack Ryan” film will be released later this year and another book Command Authority will be released in 2014.

On The Rise: Fawn Stone Is On Her Way To The Top

Fawn Stone (#Letmetellyou) is a gorgeous and super talented lady who doesn’t like to get caught up in drama. Well, with the exception of on the screen drama. Born and raised in Los  Angeles, Fawn returned to her home city Los Angeles after graduating from Howard University in Washington, DC to pursue a career in acting and as a television correspondent. Most likely, Fawn can be found strutting her stuff in her 3-inch heels, even in a bowling alley. She says, “Heels are more comfortable.”

Interracial Marriage in History 1 Sarah Gammon Bickford

Interracial Marriage in History 1 Sarah Gammon Bickford.  I first learned about Sarah Gammon Bickford in 2008 while doing research on blacks in early Montana. Thanks to the Montana Historical Society, I found a wealth of information. Blacks have been there since the Antebellum period in the US. I was so happy for this find, I couldn’t wait to share it with Karyn Folan, Cherelyn Weeks Smith and a couple other swirling black women bloggers. I purchased the pictures putting them away for a future project. These images were the first ones that started off my collection of Vintage black woman IR couples album on my Facebook page. I started that page on April 16, 2010. Read on…..
