Elethea and Mario Simple elegance……
Veteran Interracial Marriage and Relationship Blogger Evia Moore, founder of the Black Female Interracial Marriage™ Blogzine brings us a thought-provoking observation. The average black woman may sometimes feel that a white or non black man could be attracted to her. This is simply NOT true. Typical white men (Asians and Latinos too) are marrying average black women everyday.
Meet Noella Coursaris Masters. Her mother is Congolese-Zambian and her father was Cypriot (from Cyprus). Born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, this woman is elegance, grace and class personified. Then she wraps it up nicely into down home spirit of good old fashion niceness and girl next door. I can’t say too many wonderful things about her work as a wife, mother, model and philanthropist. Hubby James Masters must have been smitten by her drive and passion as well as obvious beauty.
Although interracial relationships and related issues receive much attention today, they’ve taken place in America since colonial times. In fact, America’s first “mulatto” child was born in 1620. When slavery of blacks became institutionalized in the U.S., however, anti-miscegenation laws surfaced which barred such unions, thereby stigmatizing them.
Some of us knew that Bob Dylan liked to swirl since it came out in 2001. Remember Mavis Staples turned down his marriage proposal. I don’t blame him for keeping his marriages secret and out of the spotlight This is definitely easier to do as his born name Robert Zimmerman. He took care of business and was obviously a good dad, as his ex-wife says. No hidden racism as some of the comments in the various articles suggest.
I came across a post by Lola Akinmade Åkerström’s blog advising black women seeking to live abroad. I had to share her inspiring blog from Heart & Soul from Jan. 22, 2011.

ISO BLACK WOMEN LOOKING FOR INTERRACIAL LOVE
by Jenee Darden for NPR All Things Considered.
For many black women in America, finding love has become a serious issue. Census data show that roughly 40 percent of black adult women in the U.S. have never been married. That’s nearly twice the percentage of white women. One entrepreneur in Los Angeles is fighting the odds. Her mission: move black women from no man’s land to a diverse dating world
Yvette Jarvis from Greece is just phenomenal. One description of goddess is a woman of great beauty or grace. Yvette M. Jarvis far surpasses this description being so many things to so many. Mother, politician, activist, model, singer, actress, entertainer and presently special advisor on Immigration to the mayor of Athens, Greece still somehow barely scratches the surface of this beautiful and ultra talented woman of the world.
Paul and Vanessa Babicz, Chicago Land Love and Marriage Done Right indeed. Paul Babicz or Pauly as he is known in some circles is a dedicated husband and father. At times with a Starbuck’s Caramel Macchiato within reach, Paul works full time in the medical field, plays drums at his church, co-teaches a class with his wife and just enjoys life. Paul‘s humor, loyalty, determination and creativity guaranteed him a special place in the heart of Vanessa —- his bride of 30 years.
Ami and Yuan Q, from South Carolina a beautiful couple. When working in her business at Ami Creations, Ami can be found retouching, restoring or even digitally reimaging photos. She is really in her element as a professional makeup artist/ hair stylist preparing makeup and hair for brides and bridesmaids, or even designing graphics for the wedding. When Ami and hubby can relax at home, life these days is pretty low key. Transplanted from New York and China respectively, they enjoy a quiet life in Oklahoma with their miniature dachshund. Now in South Carolina, they’ve been living there comfortably for quite some time now; and being an interracial couple is not a key topic in their daily lives. Ami and Yuan are prime examples of how online dating can work and result in a successful marriage. Ami and I had a discussion about her life and marriage. Ami’s website is www.amicreations.com
Interracial Marriage in History 1 Sarah Gammon Bickford. I first learned about Sarah Gammon Bickford in 2008 while doing research on blacks in early Montana. Thanks to the Montana Historical Society, I found a wealth of information. Blacks have been there since the Antebellum period in the US. I was so happy for this find, I couldn’t wait to share it with Karyn Folan, Cherelyn Weeks Smith and a couple other swirling black women bloggers. I purchased the pictures putting them away for a future project. These images were the first ones that started off my collection of Vintage black woman IR couples album on my Facebook page. I started that page on April 16, 2010. Read on…..
