Regina King encourages black women to date outside their race. This is a blast from the past (2010) but just as relevant as if spoken this afternoon. Black women are the last to date out for a number of reasons. One is a misplace loyalty to black men. One’s preference is one’s preference. But if a single woman wants marriage and family, it is only logical that she opens up her dating pools to include all races of men thereby increasing her chances of finding a good friend, husband and father — of course after extreme vetting him to determine his worthiness. After all we are talking about a life partner and possible father to your future children. Although she faced some backlash for her opinion, what Regina Kings says here is on point.
I am all for the short courtships. When two people are on the same page and committed to making their marriage work, it usually does. As in the marriage of Mark and Charmaine Davis. What a wonderfully romantic story of love and family.
As a life coach who coaches women on high standards in looking for quality men I was particularly intrigued to read this post about Tia Mowry and her husband Cory Hardrict. Some women fall for anything and accept a man with no job, car, prospects nor potential for anything that remotely resembles being a good husband, father and provider. I advise clients of which to steer clear of these types and run the other way. They are disasters waiting to happen. I coach women on how to carefully vet men and eventually they will know how to spot keepers. In addition I recommend my clients read The Rules.

Words hurt: How to deal with negativity. Unless you have somehow mastered the art of simply not feeling then odds are if you are in an interracial relationship that you’ve been called names or made to feel sad and hurt. We’re only human and most of our communicating is done through talking. It’s only natural to be affected by what other’s say to and about you. However it’s important to remember that their opinion is just that; theirs. We don’t control what other people say or think. We can however control the way we react.
Watch their video and you will see true love. What a beautiful couple and wedding. These two lovebirds are in college getting their teaching degrees. What better place to have their wedding in a school? Not to mention the money saved by choosing such a venue. What a bunch of supporters and well wishers! Sniff sniff! Pass the tissues.
Almost all of us know the story of Lot and Sodom and Gomorrah from the Bible. We know what happened to Lot’s wife when she decided to remain in a world that meant her certain death. Oh, she was on board with leaving, but her heart was not in it. So she turned to look back and became a pillar of salt. She doomed any chance she had at escape and a possible life of happiness outside of her deadly community.
