Last year, the cereal brand Cheerios released a commercial that featured an interracial couple and their biracial daughter. The racist backlash against seeing a black man with a white woman was so severe that Cheerios had to disable comments on its YouTube account. During the Super Bowl this year, the brand double-downed on its efforts to be reflective of a diverse nation and released a second commercial featuring the same family. In the new ad, the mother is pregnant with the couple’s second child. This commercial was marked with far less backlash.
Long gone are the days when a new practice of plastic surgery was considered for World War I soldiers who suffered horrendous and disfiguring wounds and burns. Or when gangsters like John Dillinger underwent plastic surgery to alter their appearance in order to avoid FBI capture. Even in modern times, cosmetic and plastic surgery is still known as a pleasure of the wealthy and elite but times are a changing.
This is not just for Americans. They accept students from all over Africa and Europe as well as Latin America. Fab program. I have written two posts on this topic and even called to check out the credentialing and requirements. This is a good opportunity for those who have strong Math and Science skills. After being accepted the first year is spent learning Spanish.
Let’s face it, many of us never consider obtaining and education abroad. Some of us just never think about it. If you have never been exposed to the possibility it is no wonder that you may never know that there is a world of options available to you. But for those some the cost could be a deterrent to those who do know about universities overseas. I found a Facebook Fafsa International Universities page that doesn’t update much but has good information.
Super shout out to all nurses. Sometimes your job can be thankless but know that the majority of folks appreciate, love and honor you. All CNAs, LPN, RNs, APRNs, NPs, CRNAs and CNSs have attended to millions with the utmost patience and care and you deserve the biggest shout out for that. I came across some information while looking up some things for my friend who was completing her BSN. Evidently, the value of post graduate education in nursing was deemed doctorate level work.
I have known about the Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina (ELAM) for quite some time and thought that American students no longer qualified until my good friend Adrianne George Lund posted a link. In English, this is the Latin American School of Medicine (in Cuba).

Yvette Jarvis from Greece is just phenomenal. One description of goddess is a woman of great beauty or grace. Yvette M. Jarvis far surpasses this description being so many things to so many. Mother, politician, activist, model, singer, actress, entertainer and presently special advisor on Immigration to the mayor of Athens, Greece still somehow barely scratches the surface of this beautiful and ultra talented woman of the world.
