As the mother of a daughter in high school, I am always telling her that Math is so important. Reading about this student brightens my day. Even a whiz kid has to study hard to learn all that knowledge and boy does it pay off when it comes to obtaining a free higher education. I sense some pretty proud parents are still beaming at the accomplishment of their son. Outstanding!
Aquita shares her story: When Lucas and I first met he didn’t speak English and I didn’t speak Spanish. We learned to communicate with each other within about six months. On our first date we went to dinner and smiled the whole entire time as that’s all we could do. As time went on we started using the translation service app and finally learned communicate.
According to Bloomberg, Mark Zuckerberg just became the sixth-richest person on Earth. Priscilla did not do half bad. As a matter of fact she did great in choosing a great husband and provider to her, Max and any more children they have.
For a long time, online dating carried a stigma which made many people embarrassed to say they met their significant other online. Have a swipe through Tinder profiles and you will see many people suggesting, “We’ll say we met at the movies” – anywhere else but on Tinder, POF, Facebook, Twitter, or any of the other places people have begun relationships online.
I have been raised in a very open-minded family. My mother, has always been exceptional. Even during the 60’s when the Civil Rights fight was raging, many kids of color would not help the Caucasian kids learn about their culture. Our school was now integrated school and the questions and interest was sincere. My mom, took a stand and bridged the gap.
Last year, I made one of the most difficult decisions of my life. I decided to get married—again. I can understand if people roll their eyes at this, but if you’ve never been divorced, then you may not ever be able to understand. My divorce wasn’t nasty or drawn out in the traditional sense, but I was left quite broken, scarred, and afraid.
My name is Selena G. About 20 years ago, I had a white boyfriend named Matt Z. We loved each other very much and I could see us married. My parents and brother did not like him from the start and always gave me a hard time about him. I should not have been surprised because in my home there wasalways hatred of white people.

Seems that Rachel Dolezal was far from the first who passed for black. America’s foremost Geologist and first director of the new US Geological Survey Clarence King in 1879. Right is Ada Copeland King, the former slave he married under the assumed name and identity of James Todd, a light-skinned black man. Only on his deathbed did King confess to his family that he was really Clarence King, a white man, not a light-skinned Pullman Porter.
The world woke up to sad news this morning upon hearing of David Bowie’s death. Born David Jones, the rock music legend was married to supermodel Iman Abdulmajid for 23 years. According to Metro. It is commonplace for First Lady Michelle Obama to host teas and other social gatherings in the White House. But we all know this was not always the case. I am completing a Pinterest board of American Presidents and their wives. While researching, I found out some interesting information about a past first lady.
I recently discovered the former Comedy Central comedy duo Key and Peele. They have such great chemistry and have produced a whole lot of laughs. Both Keegan Michael Key and Jordan Peele are biracial so they use race in their comedy without inhibitions. My main problem with them is that they can be so vulgar. I don’t watch stand up comedians who are not family friendly. I have only found three or four videos with little or no cursing or other vulgarities. But Key and Peele’s (slave) “Action Block” as profiled in this NPR piece is hilarious. It has only one bleeped out curse word.
I am a woman who loves to make people laugh which gives me joy. Someday I may even become a famous comedienne. Although I am a little Tom-boyish, I am still very much a woman. I’m a very passionate person. I am passionate about life. I’m passionate about my children, my grandchild and my students. (My students are special needs and I gladly make sure they have what they need). I am also passionate about my friends. I am sensitive but will confront bullies and those who mistreat others.
When I saw this headline about Jazmine Jones — Pregnant mom ‘beat 2-year-old daughter when she refused to eat her lunch and then left dying girl to go buy marijuana’ and read the story, my heart just hurt for poor baby Elliana Clairborne.
I consider most people who marry interracially, progressive and out of the box thinkers. I did not know that there were actual categories of people who chose to marry interracially until I came across this post online. Evidently there are select categories that most of us fall into who date and marry out. We are: outcasts, rebels, mavericks, compensators, adventurers, escapists, and unstables.

Relational aggression is a relatively new term usually related to bullying. These are a few terms I have coined describing relational aggression when it comes to black women in interracial relationships. Because of the lasting psychological effects this subtle and covert manipulations can have on the uninformed, the These types should be avoided whenever possible. But if avoidance is not possible, learn how to deal with them and keep it moving without skipping a beat.
