Dorothy Dandridge’s Tragic Relations
The beautiful Dorothy Dandridge, was legendary. She was a multitalented woman way ahead of her time. Dorothy’s mother Ruby and her lover Geneva Williams were abusive and taught Dorothy nothing about vetting good, quality men. Tragically almost every man in Dorothy’s romantic life left her heartbroken and broken. These would include her no account of a husband Harold Nicholas to the weak Peter Lawford who could not take the public pressure of interracial unions, to the married director Otto Preminger to her abusive, slimy husband Jack Denison and others. Dorothy Dandridge made the same mistake over and over again never getting it right. Dorothy’s own sister Vivian due to jealousy abandoned her too. Tragic life, tragic death.
A delightful performance of young Dorothy Dandridge in Zoot Suit.
